It’s never simple!

Brass! Beautiful, warm, malleable, light dances on it’s surface and it is now my metal of choice for Little Bird, in place of steel.

I was unexpectedly gifted the piece of brass; it is dirty, a bit battered and somewhat narrower than I had thought of using.

The intial physical experiments are small, paper and abstract. Too small? Small enough? I think that choosing the Oak that the abstract form will sit on may help with sizing. So far I know that I want the piece to show certain traits:

  • Fragility
  • Light
  • Shadow
  • Strength
  • Movement
  • Abstract

How important is the final size of the sculpture?
